Reduce Brain Fog

By normalizing an overactive immune response in the body, including the stabilization of mast cells, ketotifen can help to reduce cognitive deficits, supporting clearer thinking, so you can focus on what matters.

Stabilization of Mast Cells

Ketotifen reduces overactive histamine and chemical release in the body, commonly associated with mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and seen in those with Long COVID and ME/CFS. This stabilization can reduce a range of symptoms, including allergic reactions, joint pain, heart rate changes, and neurological issues.

Restore Balance

Ketotifen regulates triggers that keep the body in an alert state by blocking histamine receptors. By doing so, it helps the body return to a more balanced state, allowing rest and rejuvenation.

Skin Conditions

Ketotifen is a medication traditionally used to treat asthma and allergies.

Recently, ketotifen has taken on a new role in the lives of individuals grappling with the complex symptoms of various conditions including mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), Long COVID, types of dysautonomia, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

  • As both a partial mast cell stabilizer and an antihistamine, ketotifen offers a dual-action approach to managing symptoms. It has the potential to reduce the frequency and severity of allergic reactions while providing much-needed relief from the chronic and often debilitating symptoms associated with these conditions. By modulating the overactive immune response, ketotifen can alleviate many symptoms, from skin irritations and gastrointestinal discomfort to persistent fatigue and brain fog that can significantly impact daily functioning. In essence, it offers a chance for individuals to regain a sense of normalcy and enhance their overall quality of life.

  • Ketotifen can be used to treat a variety of persistent symptoms often associated with MCAS and impacting patients living with Long COVID. Ketotifen may help address the following symptoms:

    • Allergic symptoms such as itchy skin, hives, runny nose

    • Poor sleep

    • Improve food tolerance

    • Decrease gastrointestinal symptoms

    • Improve post-exertional malaise (PEM) and symptom exacerbation.

    • Improve exertional tolerance

  • While ketotifen is safe and generally well-tolerated by patients, mild side effects can occur. These can include:

    • Weight gain

    • Drowsiness

    • Dry mouth

    • Increased appetite

    • Irritability

    • Nervousness

    • Unexplained nosebleeds

    • Sleep disturbance

RTHM patient voices

“RTHM has given me hope. After struggling with Long COVID for two years, even with the help of a Long COVID clinic, I was still doing all of my own research and trying to keep my doctors advised of the state of the art in treatments.”

— Stuart S.

How do RTHM clinicians prescribe ketotifen?

Every patient’s journey towards health is unique, especially when managing chronic, complex conditions like Long COVID and ME/CFS. That is why we start patients at lower doses and gradually increase them to find the most effective dose with the fewest side effects.

If you are taking ketotifen for the first time, you will initially receive a 30-day prescription at a lower dose, along with clear instructions on how to safely increase your dosage during those 30 days. Once you find your stable dose, you will receive a 60-day prescription at this stable dose.

If you have already found your stable dose of ketotifen, you will have the option to receive a 90-day supply of medication.

Safety is our top priority

The eligibility criteria, the dosing protocols and the treatment guides for every treatment offered via RTHM Direct has been designed and vetted by a team of clinicians and pharmacists focused on complex illnesses.

As we continue to navigate the complexities of Long COVID, ME/CFS, and other chronic conditions, we are upholding the highest patient safety standards while expanding access to treatments.
